Looks like we have another storm coming in this morning, the skies are cloudy, snow is falling, and this, just after what happened with Winter Storm Pax last week.
We went from this on Wednesday morning….
To this on Thursday morning….
I woke up early on Thursday, and as with any snowstorm, was eager to get outside and walk Jackson through the snow. Must be my Canadian roots, I love the snow.
We walked over to the dog run in Madison Square Park, in the shadow of the Flatiron building. It was dark and cold, but at the same time peaceful.
By 7AM on my return trip home, the streets were starting to look gray and mushy.
Our mayor Bill de Blasio shocked us once again by keeping the schools open. Which of course my kids didn’t mind. It was the first time this year that we made it out the door with half an hour to spare.
Enough time for unhurried snow angels on every block.
Just in case you were wondering, this is what it looks like when schools don’t shut down. Parents holding onto their kids for dear life so that nobody blows away or slams into a 3 foot ice dam.
We finally got down to the home stretch. The kids decided to play Slip ‘n Slide on snow-covered frozen trash…
School buses skidded on the ice as thought they’d been taken over by a bunch of off-roading thrill seekers.
But we made it to school, the kids loved every minute. Despite the cold and snow, it’s been a fun winter. I can manage with fewer snowstorms before the end of the year, but until then, we’ll tough it out….
Great snow shots! You made a terrible day look pretty.
Thanks, it was actually a really cool day to be outside – I still can’t believe school was in session, but the kids all seemed to have fun. Parents were another story…
Awesome pictures sweetie! <3

The photos were a lot of fun. The school buses skidding on ice is scary. Such a dramatic change from one day to the next!
Sunny again on Sunday/Monday, and yesterday it snowed. Up and down, up and down, that’s the way it’s gone this winter. Looking forward to spring 😉
Made me cold! Warmth to you!
This is madness! Our entire city would be shut down and have called in emergency help if this happened… but I’m in the south (Nashville, TN) so it’s a lot different around here. We cancel school for just the slight chance that there might be snow lol
Our mayor got serious flack for not shutting down the schools, once again. He seems hell bent on keeping kids in school. We’re just a few blocks away, but I feel for the kids taking school buses…
I didn’t know that storm was named – I don’t think we named it up here because it wasn’t that big. We only got about 10″.
Only 10″, I guess we’ve all reset a little 😉 Hope you had a great weekend regardless…
lol…I hear you, this past weekend we had a 40cm snowfall. Honestly though, it is very pretty when it snows .
Just ask me in March when there’s still snow on the ground whether I’m still loving it 🙂
I’m so envious would love to be there. We have a bit of a heatwave here in Perth. Far too hot.
One of my fave people on Instagram lives in Perth so I always see his pics & the weather. Hope you get through the heat wave…
Great photos and looks like such pure fun for the kids! Been the same up here in TO. Oh well. Spring is around the corner!
Let’s hope! Cheers to spring coming early this year 🙂
Gorgeous photos! I love how you tell the story with your photos. I’m the same way; as soon as it starts snowing I want to go for a walk in it. We so rarely get snow here in Seattle. I always want to take as much of it in as possible. I always feel like a child again, captured by the awe. Happy hump day!
Thanks so much, it’s fun to tell stories with photos, the photos tell such great stories on their own, and a little text goes a long way 🙂 Have a great week…

Lovely photos – the kids look like they enjoyed themselves!
They did enjoy themselves, winter storms are always fun. Thanks for stopping by 🙂
Thanks for the sensible critique. Me & my neighbor were just preparing to do some research on this. We got a grab a book from our area library but I think I learned more from this post. I’m very glad to see such fantastic intiamrfoon being shared freely out there.
Fantastisk vakre biler. Og for en fiiiin stemning.. Finnes ikke bedre enn solnedganger. Helt forskjellig ut frfa hvor man er – men like vakkert overalt..Ha en skjønn dag!Klem fra Tove
